This video tutorial shows how to brighten up a studio foreground using Photoshop Elements or Photoshop CS. It also shows how to remove any warm colour cast in the foreground. This type of step is only necessary in photos that include parts of the subject in contact with the foreground. If you are taking head and shoulders or general upper body shots, it is not necessary as the background should be over-exposed to the point of being white. You can’t do this with the foreground or you will also over-expose those parts of your subject in contact with the foreground. The video is approx. 13 minutes long as the steps are explained in some detail. The technique would probably take about 5 minutes per photograph if the time taken to explain the steps was omitted.
